Dr. Paul C. Eck established Analytical Research Labs in 1974 after
devoting most of his adult life to evaluating major research studies
in biochemistry, physiology, pathology, nutrition and psychology.

To correctly interpret a hair tissue mineral analysis, Dr. Eck
combined a number of biological, physiological and biochemical
concepts including the stages of stress discovered by Dr. Hans Selye, sympathetic
and parasympathetic balancing as taught by Dr. Melvin Page, oxidation types as
taught by Dr. George Watson and mineral balancing as taught by Dr. William Albrecht
     and others.

No other laboratory uses all these concepts to help understand the significance of tissue mineral levels, ratios and metabolic patterns.
Dr. Eck pioneered many innovations in the study of trace mineral deficiencies and excesses
and their relationship to various metabolic dysfunctions associated with disease.
Dr. Eck was regarded as an authority on  the science of balancing body chemistry through hair tissue mineral analysis.

 Under Dr. Eck's direction:

— ARL was the first laboratory to integrate the factors of stress, oxidation types,
mineral relationships, homeostatic states and natural healing principles into the
science of hair tissue mineral analysis interpretation.
— ARL was the first hair tissue mineral analysis laboratory to recognize the importance
of hair mineral ratios. As a result, their interpretations focus on mineral relationships
and their effects on health.— ARL was the first laboratory to determine
oxidation rates using hair tissue mineral analysis.
 — ARL was the first laboratory to identify and correlate more than 30 metabolic trends
for illnesses using hair tissue mineral analysis.
— ARL was the first laboratory to produce interpretations that measure mineral levels
and ratios against an ideal standard of health rather than an average range used by
other laboratories within the field of hair tissue mineral analysis.

ARL - An Authority on the Science of Balancing Body
Chemistry Through Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis!

Proudly Serving the Health Care Professional for over Three Decades!

Analytical Research Labs
(ARL), is one of the most respected and experienced leaders in the hair tissue mineral analysis field. They have been setting the professional standards that have been emulated for over 30 years by national and international hair testing and interpretation laboratories. ARL, which pioneered the field of hair tissue mineral analysis interpretation, has earned the respect and endorsement of health care professionals throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Asia.

Not and Ordinary Hair Analysis!     ARL is State of the Art!!
Several factors combine to make ARL's hair tissue mineral analysis the best in the industry!

They are one of only two laboratories in the U.S. that do not wash the hair at the laboratory. Washing hair samples at the laboratory has been shown to erratically wash out the water-soluble elements. This creates much less accurate results. In a 2001 study in the Journal of the AMA (Seidel, S. et al., Assessment of Commercial Laboratories Performing Hair Mineral Analysis, JAMA, 285(1) Jan 3:67-72.) the two laboratories that did not wash the hair, of which they were one, showed superb reliability.

ARL only uses ideal mineral levels not standard levels used by other labs which are unacceptable for building an optimized health and nutrition program. They work with precise mineral levels and ratios rather than with the broad ranges employed by the majority of professionals engaged in hair analysis. As a result, they identify even slight deviations from 'ideal' values responsible for some disorders which would escape detection by other labs. Their tests recognize biochemical individuality through determination of three basic oxidation types, thus providing a sound basis for an accurate and specific selection of nutrients based on the individual's metabolism. Detrimental health effects arising from mismatching of nutrients with individual metabolism are therefore avoided.

ARL uses technologically advanced testing instruments, including the Perkin Elmer Elan 9000 ICP Mass Spectrometer.

ARL is proud of their laboratory quality control procedures. These include known controls which are tested at the beginning, middle and end of every batch of hair samples to insure the accuracy of the results. They automatically retest any reading that is out of a normally expected range, provided sufficient hair is available for a second sample.

Test results are printed on an easy-to-read graph, unlike many of the other laboratories. This is a great benefit for both practitioners and their clients as well.
The printed graph includes the mineral results, major mineral ratios and the oxidation type.

Analytical Research Labs offers the only complete individualized test interpretation by the method developed by the late Dr. Paul C. Eck, founder of ARL. This 15-20 page report is unique as it includes information related to your metabolic rate, energy levels, sugar and carbohydrate tolerance, immune system, autonomic balance, glandular activity and metabolic trends, a personal dietary supplement program, basic diet recommendations and other information that can be inferred from the test results.
